Nestled in a pinewood forest of 2.5 acres with direct access to the sea this villa with four bedrooms and three bathrooms offers spectacular views of the rocky cliffs of Castro. You will immerse yourself in a corner of paradise where you will smell the scents of the Mediterranean and listen to seagulls and cicadas interrupted only by the sound of the waves. This villa is located in an exclusive and unique estate consisting of several villas and trulli, separated from each other by a pinewood forest. It is known as "La Palombara" and was popular with VIPs in the seventies and eighties. At the end of 2019 we rediscovered this heavenly place and we chose to upgrade and redesign parts of it. It is now available for guests that are looking for a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In the photo gallery you will find a map of the entire grounds.
A path that leads directly to the sea, starts right below the two panoramic terraces of this villa. On your way to the sea, you will pass some picnic areas with breathtaking views. Once on the rocky beach, you will find four access points for swimming, diving, snorkeling or fishing in the crystal clear water of the Lower Adriatic Sea. Dolphins have been spotted from the picnic areas. (Caution: the path and access to the sea is not suitable for small children or people with disabilities).The villa is on two levels: two double bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other one with twin beds), each with a private bathroom, kitchen and a large living room on the upper floor; on the lower floor, a double bedroom, another living area with two single beds and a bathroom. The interior design is simple but functional; there is no TV nor air conditioning, but the thick walls and pine trees mitigate the heat of the summer sun. The house can be heated in the colder season; a fast, reliable and unlimited wifi connection (included in the price) is available. Both floors have their own partly shaded terraces, with wonderful views and maximum privacy.
A rooftop terrace, a barbecue and an outdoor shower complete the picture.
The well-known fortified village of Castro, with its bars, cafes, restaurants and a supermarket, can be reached on foot in just ten minutes. The walk is along a charming path under the ancient Messapian walls. For those who prefer sandy beaches to rocks, the enchanting sandy beach of Porto Miggiano is 5 km away; very charming are also the coves of Porto Badisco and the long sandy beaches of Alimini, north of Otranto.
🛏️ Sheets, duvets and towels are not included. If you don't want to bring them with you from home, regardless of the length of your stay, you can rent them for €20 per person. Beach/pool towels are not provided.
🧽 Final cleaning is not included and costs €100, unless you clean yourselves before departure.
🐶 Dogs and pets are allowed (max 2 dogs or pets, surcharge €60 per dog/pet). You will need to inform us in advance.
💰 We will ask you to pay a security deposit of €600 before arrival. The security deposit will be refunded within 7 days after departure, if there is no damage.
⚡ Electricity costs (and thus where applicable AC, hot water, heating etc.) are NOT included in the price and will be charged based on your actual consumption. The price per kWh charged to guests was €0,31 on 05/10/2023, when this text was last updated, but as prices are fluctuating a lot, your actual price per kWh will be communicated a few days before your arrival based on the current market price.
We decided not to include electricity costs in the rent in order to: a) keep our rental prices stable despite inflation and b) incentivate our guests to use electricity responsibly, helping us to reach our sustainability goals. Thank you for your understanding.

Fare colazione e cenare sulla terrazza panoramica è il vero plus di questo alloggio, così come la comodissima doccia esterna e la possibilità di tuffarsi dalla caletta privata alla quale si accede attraverso un breve sentiero. L’interno dell’abitazione risulta molto funzionale e spazioso. Siamo stati benissimo e ci sentiamo di consigliare vivamente questa casa.
